Acer 23.8in FHD 1920x1080 IPS 120Hz Office Monitor KB242Y G0bi | 1ms, AdaptiveSync (FreeSync Compatible), sRGB 99%, HDMI, VGA, VESA Mountable, Bluelight Filter, Flickerless Technology

The Acer KB242Y is a purpose-built utility monitor that brings competitive speed to the entry-level market.

Value
The headline here is the 120Hz refresh rate paired with Adaptive-Sync, providing a fluidity in motion usually reserved for more expensive gaming displays. The IPS panel is a significant advantage at this price, offering 99% sRGB color accuracy and wide viewing angles that make it viable for both media consumption and light creative work. Its Zero-Frame design minimizes distractions and facilitates clean dual-monitor configurations.

Trade-offs
At 250 nits, the peak brightness is lean; it performs best in controlled lighting rather than directly opposite a bright window. The tilt-only stand lacks height adjustment, and the inclusion of a legacy VGA port instead of a second HDMI or DisplayPort limits modern connectivity options.

The Bottom Line
While the ergonomics are basic and the brightness is modest, the KB242Y remains a top-tier budget buy. Finding 120Hz fluidness and accurate IPS colors at this price point is rare, making the trade-offs a small price to pay for a display that punches well above its weight in pure visual performance.
