LG Ultragear 37" 4K UHD 165Hz 1ms Curved Gaming Monitor w AMD Freesync 37G800A-B

The LG 37G800A-B occupies a rare sweet spot in the market, providing a 37-inch 4K curved display that bridges the gap between traditional 32-inch monitors and massive 42-inch TVs. It is a high-utility choice for gamers who prioritize cinematic immersion and deep contrast without the extreme price tag or burn-in concerns of OLED panels.

### Strengths
* The Perfect Size: The 36.5-inch viewable area offers a significantly more expansive feel than a 32-inch screen, providing "big-screen" impact while remaining practical for a standard desk setup.
* High-Contrast VA Panel: With a 4000:1 contrast ratio, this monitor delivers deep, true blacks that leave typical IPS monitors looking washed out in dark rooms.
* Aggressive 1000R Curve: The curvature is designed to match the human field of view, reducing eye fatigue and increasing immersion in simulation and open-world titles.
* Modern Console & Laptop Ready: Equipped with dual HDMI 2.1 ports for 4K/120Hz console gaming and a USB Type-C port with 65W Power Delivery for a single-cable laptop connection.
* Fluid Motion: The 165Hz refresh rate and 1ms (GtG) response time provide the speed necessary for high-level gaming, supported by AMD FreeSync Premium Pro to eliminate screen tearing.

### Trade-offs
* VA Smearing: Like most VA panels, users may experience minor ghosting or dark smearing in extremely fast-paced, high-contrast scenes compared to faster IPS or OLED displays.
* Viewing Angles: Colors and contrast may shift slightly if viewed from the side, making this strictly a center-seat experience.
* HDR Blooming: While DisplayHDR 600 adds punchy highlights, the lack of local dimming zones means you will see some light bleed around bright objects in dark scenes.

### Value vs. Trade-off
The negatives—specifically the VA panel's viewing angles and motion artifacts—are standard characteristics of this technology and are easily overlooked when compared to the immense screen real estate and rich black levels provided at this price point. You are effectively getting a cinematic 4K powerhouse for a fraction of the cost of an OLED or Mini-LED equivalent. For users who want a massive, curved workspace that excels at atmospheric gaming and productivity, the LG 37G800A-B is an outstanding buy.
