ASUS TUF Gaming 24 Inch 1080p 180Hz Curved FreeSync Gaming Monitor | ELMB Sync, 1ms, 1500R Curve, Shadow Boost, DisplayWidget Center, DCI-P3 90%, Eye Care Plus, ,3yr warranty

The ASUS TUF Gaming VG24VQER is a high-speed entry into the curved monitor market, trading peak ergonomics for raw performance and contrast. It is built for gamers who prioritize motion fluidity and deep blacks without the premium price tag of IPS or OLED alternatives.

Value vs. Trade-off

The primary value here is the combination of a 180Hz refresh rate and a 3000:1 contrast ratio. Unlike standard IPS panels that struggle with "gray" blacks, this VA panel delivers the depth needed for immersive, dark-room gaming. The 1500R curvature on a 24-inch frame feels natural, pulling the edges into your peripheral vision without distorting the image. Furthermore, the inclusion of ELMB Sync is a standout technical win, allowing you to use motion blur reduction and FreeSync simultaneously—a rarity at this price point.

The trade-offs are predictable for the category: the VA panel is prone to minor dark-level smearing during high-speed transitions, which may bother professional-tier FPS players. Additionally, the stand is basic, offering only tilt adjustment, and the 250-nit peak brightness is sufficient for standard indoor use but will struggle against direct window glare.

The Verdict

While the stand is stiff and the panel exhibits typical VA ghosting, these are minor concessions when you consider the price. For the budget-conscious gamer, the VG24VQER remains a must-buy because it delivers a silky 180Hz experience and superior contrast that makes modern titles look significantly richer than on a standard flat office display. At this MSRP, you are paying for the engine, not the upholstery.
