ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQM5A 27 Inch 1440p 300Hz G-SYNC Gaming Monitor | Fast IPS,ELMB Sync, 95% DCI-P3, Built-In Speakers, Shadow Boost, DisplayWidget Center, 0.3ms, for PS5 and Xbox

The ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQM5A is a specialized speed demon designed for competitive players who refuse to choose between 1440p clarity and 300Hz fluidity.

### Value
The primary draw is the overclocked 300Hz refresh rate paired with a 0.3ms (GTG) response time, providing motion clarity that rivals top-tier 1080p esports displays while maintaining a much sharper QHD resolution. The Fast IPS panel ensures vibrant colors with 95% DCI-P3 coverage, making it viable for content creation during downtime. A standout feature is ELMB Sync, which allows motion blur reduction to work alongside variable refresh rate (VRR), effectively eliminating ghosting without the screen tearing typical of lesser monitors. Additionally, the DisplayWidget Center is a major quality-of-life win, letting you tweak display settings via software instead of fumbling with physical OSD buttons.

### Trade-off
To hit these speeds at this price point, the HDR performance is mediocre; while it supports HDR10, it lacks the local dimming zones required for a truly transformative high-dynamic-range experience. The built-in speakers are underpowered and lack depth, serving better as a backup than a primary audio source. Some users may also find the stand footprint relatively large, which could interfere with aggressive mouse movements if desk space is limited.

### The Verdict
Despite the average HDR and weak speakers, the VG27AQM5A remains an elite choice for its category. Most "pro-grade" 300Hz+ monitors are stuck at 1080p; getting this level of responsiveness at 1440p for under $400 is a massive value proposition. If your priority is competitive edge and motion integrity, the trade-offs in cinematic HDR are a small price to pay for what is currently one of the fastest QHD gaming experiences on the market.
