The Verdict
The Polaris Vac-Sweep 380 is a heavy-duty workhorse designed for pools that face significant debris loads. Its triple-jet vacuum power and large 2.25-inch inlet allow it to swallow acorns, pebbles, and large leaves that would choke standard suction cleaners. Users consistently praise its fast 3-hour cleaning cycle and its ability to climb and scrub walls effectively on any surface, from fiberglass to gunite.
The primary trade-off is the need for a dedicated booster pump, which adds to the initial installation cost and energy consumption. Some users also report hose tangling issues if the feed line isn't trimmed precisely to the pool's dimensions. Despite the higher entry price and extra hardware, the 380’s rugged belt-drive mechanics and superior debris capacity make it the best value for long-term reliability, effectively paying for itself by significantly reducing manual skimming and filter maintenance.
