The Verdict
The Eureka PowerSpeed (NEU280) is a high-utility powerhouse designed for those who prioritize raw suction performance over luxury features. Its standout attribute is the upgraded cyclone system, which provides deep-cleaning power on both high-pile carpets and hard surfaces. Users frequently cite the 5-position height adjustment and lightweight 10-pound frame as major wins, making it easy to haul between floors while effectively managing everything from pet hair to microscopic dust.
The trade-off for this entry-level price point is found in the build materials and maintenance requirements. The chassis is primarily plastic, and the roller brush is prone to hair wrap, necessitating the manufacturer's recommended bi-weekly cleaning to avoid belt failure. Additionally, the lack of a swivel steering head means you’ll be doing more manual maneuvering in tight spaces.
However, these ergonomic "penalties" are easily eclipsed by the machine's aggressive cleaning capability. When contextualized against its budget-friendly price tag, the NEU280 remains an essential buy for anyone needing a reliable, high-performance vacuum who doesn't mind performing basic routine maintenance in exchange for unbeatable value.
