GermGuardian AC4300BPTCA 22-Inch HEPA Filter Air Purifier for Pet Owners, Captures 99.97% of Germs, Dust, and Odors, with UV-C Light, Black

The Verdict: Value vs. Trade-off

If you share your home with animals, the GermGuardian AC4300BPTCA is a highly effective, no-nonsense workhorse. Its standout feature is the Pet Pure antimicrobial treatment applied directly to the True HEPA filter, which actively inhibits mold, mildew, and odor-causing bacteria from growing on the filter surface. Users consistently praise its compact 22-inch footprint, making it easy to tuck out of the way, and the optional UV-C light provides a welcome extra layer of defense against airborne viruses. For small to medium rooms, its 99.97% capture rate of microscopic allergens delivers fast-acting, noticeable relief from dander and dust.

However, there are compromises. The highest fan setting is noticeably loud (hitting around 55 dB), which may disrupt light sleepers if left on maximum output overnight. Additionally, the unit relies on a thin activated carbon pre-filter pad rather than robust carbon pellets; it handles everyday pet smells well, but will struggle against heavy smoke or dense VOCs. It is also entirely manual—there are no built-in air quality sensors or auto-modes to adjust the 3-speed fan for you.

Despite the noisy top gear and lack of automation, the GermGuardian AC4300BPTCA remains an excellent buy for budget-conscious pet owners. You are getting certified True HEPA filtration and UV-C technology at a highly accessible price point. If your primary goal is practical, reliable air cleaning in a bedroom or home office and you don't want to pay a premium for smart-home connectivity you won't use, this purifier delivers exactly what you need without breaking the bank.
