TCL 98 Inch QM8L Series SQD-Mini LED QLED 4K Smart Google TV 98QM8L, 144Hz | 2026, Google TV with Gemini, Ultimate Color, Ultimate Brightness & Contrast, Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Atmos, IMAX Enhanced

### Verdict: TCL 98-Inch QM8L (2026)

The TCL 98QM8L is a masterclass in brightness and scale, effectively bridging the gap between consumer displays and professional mastering monitors. By combining 6,000 peak nits with over 4,000 discrete dimming zones, it achieves a level of HDR "pop" that was previously impossible on a panel of this size. The integration of Bang & Olufsen audio and the Google Gemini Interactive AI moves this from a "big screen" to a sophisticated, center-piece home theater solution.

* Value: You are getting reference-grade peak brightness and an industry-leading 288Hz Game Accelerator suite. Users rave about the "halo-free" performance provided by the Enhanced Halo Control System, which finally solves the blooming issues typical of massive Mini-LED panels. The 5nm Ultra Color Filter delivers pinpoint accuracy that rivals high-end OLEDs but with three times the luminance.
* Trade-offs: The sheer scale of a 98-inch panel makes professional installation mandatory, and the 7000:1 static contrast, while high for LCD, still can't match OLED's "infinite" blacks in a pitch-black room. Additionally, the Google Gemini AI features, while powerful, can feel intrusive if you prefer a minimalist, "dumb" TV experience.

Final Thought: While the physical footprint and power requirements are significant, the 98QM8L is the definitive "buy" for 2026. When contextualized against its price point, you are essentially getting ultra-premium specs—like the Bang & Olufsen sound system and SQD-Mini-LED tech—at a cost that significantly undercuts the 100-inch competition from Sony or Samsung. For any high-ambient light room or dedicated gaming setup, this is the current gold standard.
