Dolphin Proteus DX3 Automatic Robotic Pool Vacuum Cleaner Includes Caddy for Easy to Transport and Storage, Ideal for In-Ground Pool up to 33 FT in Length

The Dolphin Proteus DX3 is a high-utility workhorse designed specifically for in-ground pools up to 33 feet. It bridges the gap between entry-level suction cleaners and overpriced "smart" robots by focusing on mechanical efficiency and user convenience, specifically through the inclusion of a Universal Caddy—an accessory that usually commands a premium.

Value: The standout feature is its wall-scrubbing power. Unlike many mid-range robots that only clean the floor, the DX3 climbs vertical surfaces to scrub the waterline, where algae and scale typically accumulate. Its active scrubbing brush spins twice as fast as the tracks, providing the friction necessary to dislodge stubborn debris. Owners prioritize this model for its top-load filter basket, which is significantly easier to empty and rinse than bottom-access bags.

Trade-offs: To keep the price point competitive, this model lacks Wi-Fi connectivity and remote steering. It operates on a standard 2-hour cleaning cycle with no option for advanced scheduling via a smartphone. Additionally, while it handles fine silt and sand expertly, the intake may struggle with a high volume of large, heavy debris like oversized oak leaves or acorns compared to dual-brush flagship models.

While you trade away app-based gimmicks, the DX3 remains a superior buy because it invests that cost back into build quality and cleaning performance. For the pool owner who wants a "set it and forget it" solution that includes a dedicated storage and transport system, the DX3 offers professional-grade waterline cleaning at a fraction of the cost of high-end units.
