iRobot Roomba Plus 505 Combo Robot Vacuum & Mop with AutoWash Dock - Extending Spinning Mop Pads, Self-Empties, Pad Wash & Heated Drying, Self-cleaning, Recognizes & Avoids Obstacles, LiDAR Navigation

### The Verdict
The iRobot Roomba Plus 505 Combo represents a significant leap for the brand, finally integrating a fully autonomous AutoWash Dock that handles everything from heated pad drying to 75 days of debris storage. It is a specialized tool for those who want to eliminate floor maintenance from their weekly chore list entirely.

Value: Precision Engineering and Total Autonomy
The most impactful upgrade is the extending DualClean Mop Pad, which physically reaches out to clean the "dead zones" along baseboards and corners that traditional circular robots miss. Users benefit from LiDAR Navigation, which provides near-instant room mapping and efficient cleaning paths even in pitch-black rooms. The SmartScrub feature is a genuine utility, applying downward pressure to tackle stubborn grime and dried coffee rather than just dragging a damp cloth over the floor. Furthermore, the PrecisionVision AI remains the gold standard for reliability, accurately identifying and avoiding pet waste, charging cables, and shoes in real-time.

Trade-off: Footprint and Initial Investment
The primary hurdle is the size of the AutoWash Dock, which is considerably bulkier than standard charging bases and requires a permanent "parking spot" in your home. Additionally, the premium price tag places it firmly in the luxury appliance category, making it a significant upfront investment compared to mid-range hybrids.

Why it’s a Buy
While the dock takes up space and the cost is high, the Roomba Plus 505 Combo is a definitive 'buy' because it delivers true hands-off floor care. The combination of auto-lifting mop pads (which keep carpets bone-dry) and self-cleaning dock maintenance means you won't touch the machine for weeks at a time. For busy households or pet owners, the reclaimed time and peace of mind far outweigh the initial cost and physical footprint.
