Samsung 27" Essential S3 (S36GD) Series FHD 1800R Curved Computer Monitor | 100Hz, Game Mode, Advanced Eye Comfort, HDMI and D-sub Ports (LS27D366GANXZA)

The Samsung 27" Essential S3 (S36GD) is a high-utility 2024 update that brings smooth performance to the budget-conscious desk. The defining feature is the 100Hz refresh rate, which offers a significant step up from standard 60Hz monitors, ensuring that document scrolling and casual gaming feel noticeably more fluid. Combined with an 1800R curvature and a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, this VA panel provides deeper blacks and a more immersive, comfortable field of view for long work sessions than its flat-panel competitors.

Value vs. Trade-off
The primary trade-offs involve physical flexibility and pixel density. The included stand is tilt-only, lacking height or swivel adjustments, and the inclusion of a VGA (D-sub) port feels outdated compared to modern DisplayPort or USB-C standards. Additionally, 1080p resolution at 27 inches results in lower pixel density, meaning text may lose its "crispness" if you sit very close to the screen.

However, these limitations are entirely expected at this entry-level price point. You are trading professional-grade ergonomics and ultra-high resolution for Samsung’s reliable build quality, modern 100Hz fluidity, and certified eye-care technology. For students and home office users who prioritize screen real estate and visual comfort over specialized specs, the S36GD remains a top-tier value pick that looks and performs better than its price tag suggests.
