Samsung 42-Inch Class OLED S90F 4K Smart TV (2025 Model) NQ4 AI Gen3 Processor Upscaling Pro HDR +, Motion Xcelerator 144Hz, Vision Alexa Built-in

The Samsung 42-Inch Class OLED S90F 4K Smart TV (2025 Model) offers a compelling blend of cutting-edge technology and premium display performance.

Value:
The NQ4 AI Gen3 Processor stands out, leveraging 128 neural networks for superior 4K AI upscaling, delivering remarkable detail and smooth picture quality across all content, from streaming to live sports. Users will appreciate the powerful brightness and deeper contrast inherent to OLED technology, revealing nuanced details in every scene. For gamers and sports enthusiasts, the Motion Xcelerator 144Hz ensures smooth visuals and elite speeds for VRR gaming at up to 4K 144Hz, effectively smoothing fast-moving action to reduce blur. The ability to intelligently transform SDR content to HDR-like quality with brighter highlights and more vibrant colors further enhances the viewing experience.

Trade-off:
However, prospective buyers should consider a few trade-offs. Samsung maintains its stance of not supporting Dolby Vision, relying instead on HDR10+ for dynamic HDR content. While HDR10+ offers dynamic metadata, some users may find Dolby Vision provides more granular scene-by-scene optimization on certain content. The integrated Tizen OS can be criticized for being less intuitive, occasionally sluggish, and prone to bloatware, potentially impacting seamless navigation for some users. As with all OLEDs, there's a theoretical, though significantly reduced, risk of burn-in with prolonged display of static images, despite modern mitigation features. Furthermore, while bright, this OLED might struggle to compete with the peak brightness of some premium QLEDs in exceptionally bright, sunlit rooms. The built-in speakers may be considered subpar for a truly immersive audio experience, suggesting a soundbar or external system as a likely additional investment. Notably, for the 42-inch model, some reports indicate limited viewing angles where color distortion can become noticeable when not viewing head-on.

Despite these considerations, the SAMSUNG 42-Inch Class OLED S90F remains a strong buy for the right individual. Its industry-leading processor, stunning OLED panel, and exceptional gaming performance offer a premium experience that justifies its price. For those prioritizing unparalleled black levels, vibrant colors, and smooth motion, especially in controlled lighting environments, the S90F delivers an immersive spectacle, with its minor drawbacks easily mitigated by external audio solutions or adaptation to the smart platform.
