The Verdict
Verdict: Canon PowerShot ELPH 360
Value: The ELPH 360 is a pocket-sized powerhouse for those who need 12x optical zoom—a feature most smartphones can't match without losing significant detail to digital cropping. Its 20.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor paired with Optical Image Stabilization delivers sharp, high-utility stills and 1080p HD video even in unpredictable lighting. The built-in Wi-Fi and NFC streamline the workflow, allowing for instant wireless transfers to mobile devices for quick sharing.
Trade-off: This model is strictly a still-first tool; zooming is disabled during movie recording, and the sensor can struggle with rolling shutter distortion on fast-moving subjects. Additionally, it relies on the older Mini-B USB standard rather than modern USB-C.
The Bottom Line: Despite the lack of video zoom, the ELPH 360 remains a premier choice for travel photography. When you consider the affordability and portability, it is an essential buy for users who prioritize true optical reach and dedicated sensor performance over the bulk of a DSLR.
