Zodiac MX6 Suction-Side In-Ground Pool Cleaner, Cyclonic Suction | X-Trax Gives Extreme Maneuverability, No Batteries to Charge

The Zodiac MX6 is a high-performance suction-side cleaner optimized for efficiency and agility. Its standout X-Drive Navigation system allows it to map and clean both floors and walls with a level of precision usually reserved for more expensive models. The cyclonic suction provides consistent power, and because it is designed to operate at lower flow rates, it is an excellent match for energy-efficient variable-speed pumps.

Value vs. Trade-off

The Strengths:
Users consistently praise its climbing ability; the X-Trax tires provide enough grip to handle 90-degree angles and tile lines without slipping. Its compact footprint is a major asset for pools with tight corners or small radiuses where larger cleaners often get stuck. Setup is straightforward, and the Twist Lock hose segments ensure a secure, leak-free connection.

The Weaknesses:
The primary trade-off is the narrow debris intake. While it excels at sand, silt, and small leaves, it can struggle with large acorns or heavy tropical foliage, which may cause the internal turbine to jam. Furthermore, the directional control gears are wear-and-tear components that may require replacement every few seasons depending on your pool’s finish.

The Verdict:
While it lacks the "swallow everything" capacity of a dedicated pressure cleaner or high-end robot, the MX6 is a buy for owners of small-to-medium pools who want automated wall scrubbing without a four-figure price tag. Its ability to deliver premium navigation on a budget makes it the most cost-effective way to maintain a spotless pool floor and waterline.
