Fluance RT85 Turntable with Ortofon 2M Blue Cartridge, Acrylic Platter, and Vibration Isolation

The Fluance RT85 is the benchmark for mid-range audiophile performance. By bundling the Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge—a \$240 component on its own—with a frosted acrylic platter, Fluance delivers a level of harmonic detail and speed stability usually reserved for decks costing twice as much. The isolated motor and optical speed sensor keep wow and flutter to a negligible 0.07%, providing a "black" background and precise timing that makes instruments pop.

Value vs. Trade-off:
The primary "missing" feature is a built-in phono preamp, meaning you must own an external stage or an amplifier with a dedicated Phono input to get any sound. Additionally, while it includes a helpful auto-stop function, the tonearm does not automatically return to the rest, requiring manual intervention to protect your stylus.

The Bottom Line:
Despite the need for extra gear, the RT85 is an unbeatable value proposition. You are essentially receiving a premium cartridge and high-mass platter for the price of a standard entry-level setup. It is the definitive "buy" for the listener who prioritizes pure sonic accuracy and long-term hardware quality over all-in-one convenience.
